Delivery Services

Delivery services have become very popular in the last few years. You can just about anything delivered to you these days: groceries, clothes, furniture, items for your pet, etc. I used to only use Amazon, but that has changed in the last few years.

I have been having medical issues and last year I received a diagnosis related to my mobility. I am still coming to terms with changing how I navigate my day to day routine. Delivery services have been extremely beneficial to me.

I used to take for granted, just getting in the car, driving to the store, do my shopping, and going home. Now for me to go shopping, I need to have my husband or (adult) teen daughter with me. If it’s grocery shopping at Costco, I need to arrive before it opens to get a disabled parking spot and get an electric cart because I can’t walk the entire store. My teen or husband has to push the cart for our groceries as they won’t all fit in the little basket on the electric cart. I need help getting the groceries into the vehicle and the house. That’s just one store. Enter delivery services.

AMAZON:

I have been using Amazon for years for ordering a gift or something I might not have been able to find locally. Now, I find myself ordering from Amazon multiple times a month. It has helped keep the pantry full with staple ingredients.

I’ve ordered some special items to help me adjust at home too. In addition to the items you can order, you get access to movies, music, photo storage, discounted Grub Hub food delivery, and more with a Prime membership.

INSTACART:

I initially used Instacart to order groceries for my adult kids back East. I actually bought the annual membership as it was on discounted per a promotion. The membership saves you on some of the fees.

The service was really good as my daughter-in-law could either have the food delivered or she could arrange to pick it up (saves even more on fees).

I like that I can order from local stores for perishable items that I may need but not have to expend energy to have someone take me.

WILD PASTURES:

Wild Pastures is a relatively new meat delivery service I am trying out. I know there are a lot of options for this type of service, but so far it’s working for our family. We have had positive experiences with the products received. They are a bit cheaper than some of the other meat delivery services. I will say, their boxes don’t have some of the customization flexibility as other services, but like I said, it works for our family.

I’m exploring a few more delivery service options. Always have to keep my options open and also be cost efficient too. Some people think delivery services are overpriced. Considering some families may only have one vehicle, or are injured and can’t drive, have mobility issues, or just want the convenience, they serve a purpose. I no longer have the luxury of taking mobility for granted.
