The daily writing prompt was what’s your favorite holiday and why?
I think Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. It’s a time to dress up, get candy, and just have fun. There aren’t any expectations, except maybe handing out some candy to the little princesses and goblins that make their way to your house.
You get to dress up to be anything you want to be. Friends and couples can share a costume theme. You can choose to be in character or be yourself. I believe some people show their true selves on Halloween. It’s their night to truly be who they are, under the guise of a costume, and enjoy just being in the moment.
Aside from the trademark orange that goes with Halloween, because I really dislike orange, the pumpkins, the cooler weather, cozy sweaters, seeing the littles excited about trick or treating or trunk or treating, wearing costume make-up, fun clothes, seeing unique costumes, and the occasional scare, what’s not to like about Halloween?
I admit, not a fan of scary movies anymore, but a scary-theme park or party, a haunted house, all in the name of simple fun is a great way to spend an evening. So now, it’s your turn. What’s your favorite holiday?
